| San Felipe is a water-lover's paradise. Not only are the water temperatures warmer than the Pacific-side of the peninsula, but they are also calmer. Jet skiing, sailing, kayaking, swimming and fishing are popular with tourists here. Due to the tidal variations (some of the world's largest) and the closeness of the Colorado River delta, water visibility is often low. San Felipe is legendary for off-road adventures such as the Baja 250 (a smaller version of the Baja 1000). Many visitors come to San Felipe to ride dirt bikes, quads, and dune buggies in the desert near the town. You'll find large sand dunes being ridden behind Club de Pesca campground at the southern end of Ave. Mar de Cortez. 4WD explorations of the local desert, mountains and oasis' are popular too. |
